3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering in Perth
High-accuracy digital capture of physical objects for reverse engineering, replication, inspection, and design modification.
What We Offer
From Physical Object to Production-Ready Digital File
Vertex Manufacturing provides professional 3D scanning services for clients who need to create an accurate digital model of an existing physical object. This may be to reproduce a part that no longer has a design file, to modify or improve an existing component, to inspect manufactured parts against a design specification, or to create a permanent digital archive of physical objects.
Our scanning process produces accurate point cloud and mesh data that can be processed into production-ready files for 3D printing, injection moulding tooling, CNC machining, or design development. Scanning is frequently paired with our CAD Design service to convert raw scan data into a clean, parametric model that can be directly modified and manufactured.
If you are unsure whether scanning is the right approach for your project, contact us with a description of the part and what you need to do with it. We will advise on the most appropriate process.
Turnaround:
Digital scan files typically within 1–3 business days · Parametric CAD conversion quoted separately by complexity
Use Cases
What 3D Scanning Is Used For
Scanning bridges the gap between the physical and digital, enabling work that would otherwise require complete redesign from scratch.
Reverse Engineering
Create a CAD file for a part that was manufactured without one, or where the original file has been lost.
Part Replication
Reproduce a component to exact dimensions where no drawing exists.
Design Modification
Scan an existing part and modify the digital model before remanufacturing.
Quality Inspection
Compare a manufactured part against its design intent to verify dimensional accuracy.
Digital Archiving
Preserve physical objects, sculptures, or artefacts as accurate 3D digital files.
Tooling and Mould Verification
Inspect tooling and moulded parts against original design data.
What We Deliver
Scan Outputs and File Formats
Raw scan data is processed and delivered as a cleaned mesh file (STL or OBJ) suitable for 3D printing or further design work. Where a parametric CAD model is required (for modification, tooling, or manufacturing), this is produced as a separate service using our CAD Design capability and quoted based on part complexity.
How It Works
How It WorksOur Process
A straightforward process from enquiry to finished part, with clear communication at every stage.
01
Submit Your Enquiry
Describe the object to be scanned and what you need to do with the digital file. If possible, include dimensions and photos.
02
Assessment and Quote
We confirm the scanning approach, expected accuracy, and output format. Quote issued including any CAD conversion if required.
03
Scanning
Object scanned in-house or on-site depending on size and accessibility. Scanning duration varies by object complexity.
04
Processing
Point cloud data processed, mesh cleaned, and file prepared in your required format.
05
File Delivery
Digital files delivered electronically. Physical production can proceed immediately from delivered files.
